核心目标与愿景 Core Objectives and Vision

佛光大学因应全球高等教育国际化趋势,以及跨文化人才日益受国际政治重视,特别历史学系设立「汉学与东亚文化组」及人文暨社会科学学院硕士班历史组设立「汉学与东方哲学组」。 招收对汉学、东亚文化与东方哲学具高度兴趣之国际学生,以历史学为核心,结合政治经济、社会文化、佛学思想、图像艺术,培养具备跨文化理解力与紮实学术能力的国际人才。
In response to the internationalization of global higher education and the increasing importance of cross-cultural talents in international politics, the Department of History at Fo Guang University has established the "BA in Sinology and East Asian Cultures" and  "MA in Sinology and Eastern Philosophy ." We sincerely recruit international students with a keen interest in Sinology and East Asian history and culture. Centered on historical studies and integrating Politics, economics, society, culture, Buddhism, thought,  and visual arts, the program aims to cultivate international professionals with cross-cultural understanding and solid academic capabilities.


课程特色 Curriculum Features

课程设计以「汉学」传统为基础,涵盖中国史、文化史、思想史、艺术史,同时拓展至东亚乃至全球视野,强调区域内长时段的互动与影响。并规划下列特色课程:
The curriculum is built upon the tradition of "Sinology," covering Chinese history, cultural history, intellectual history, and art history, while expanding to East Asian and global perspectives.  It emphasizes long-term interactions and influences within the region. The program offers several featured courses:

  • 台湾与东亚的经济变迁 (Taiwan and East Asia's Economy)
    • 从经济史角度探讨台湾与亚洲各国在全球贸易经济体系中的位置。
    • Examines Taiwan and Asian countries' positions in the global trade system through the lens of economic history.
  • 东亚文化的转译与创新 (Historical Translation and Creative Practice of East Asian Culture)
    • 引导学生将专业汉学知识转化为公众共享的文化资本,探讨在博物馆、影视、与数码媒体中的呈现。
    • Guides students to act as "translators," transforming professional Sinological knowledge into public cultural capital across museums, film, and digital media.
  • 节日与生活中的亚洲文化 (Festivals and Everyday Life in Asian Cultures):
    • 系统性探讨东亚与东南亚重要节日之历史形成与社会功能。
    • Systematically explores the historical formation and social functions of major festivals in East and Southeast Asia.
  • 华人移民与南洋文化 (Chinese Migration and Nanyang Cultures)
    •  聚焦华人跨区域移动历史,说明移民如何形塑东南亚多元文化样貌。
    • Focuses on the history of Chinese transregional migration and how these communities shaped the dynamic cultural landscape of Southeast Asia.

MA in Sinology and Eastern Philosophy (Chinese-taught)
  • 佛教在中国的思想发展、转化与创新(The Development, Transformation and Innovation of Buddhism in China)
    • 本课程将从佛教东传背景、翻译方法、义理中国化入手,进入六朝至隋唐佛教各宗派思想(天台、三论、华严、禅宗、法相等),并探讨佛教与儒、道互动的哲学面向。
    • This course will begin with the background of Buddhism's eastward transmission, translation methods, and the Sinicization of its doctrines, then delve into the thoughts of various Buddhist sects from the Six Dynasties to the Sui and Tang Dynasties (Tiantai, Sanlun, Huayan, Chan, Faxiang, etc.), and explore the philosophical aspects of the interaction between Buddhism and Confucianism and Taoism.
  • 汉学视野下的佛教文化与东亚文明 (Buddhist Culture and East Asian Civilization in the Perspective of Sinology)
    • 本课程将佛教置于广义的汉学研究脉络中,探讨佛教与东亚社会的政治、伦理、文学及物质文化之间的互动。
    • This course places Buddhism within the broader context of Sinological studies, exploring the interactions between Buddhism and the political, ethical, literary, and material culture of East Asian societies.
  •  东亚佛教文献与思想专题 (Seminar on East Asian Buddhist Texts and Thought)
    • 本课程旨在培养学生解读东亚佛教原典的能力,并探讨佛教思想在汉字文化圈中的传播与嬗变。
    • This course aims to cultivate students' ability to interpret original East Asian Buddhist texts and explore the spread and evolution of Buddhist thought within the Chinese character cultural sphere.
